Architecture for Architecture, 2016

The project Architecture for Architecture is a new architecture museum to Hietalahti in Helsinki. This program includes museum exhibition spaces, an archive, auditorium, library and restaurant. In design, the museum for architecture emphasizes adaptability of the museum to be used for different purposes in different times. It contains four entries which allows some of the functions to be used at the same time while others are not. There is active cycling in the surrounding area of Hietalahti. This is taken into account by having a cycling route through the building. The building mass protects the cycling route from the cold sea wind from the southwest.

There are ceiling panels on the roof in exhibition spaces. With ceiling panels, natural light can be adapted by changing the positions of the panels. It is also possible to cover the ribbon window thoroughly to dim the space. The main materials used on the façade are pre-patinated copper sheets and wood panels.
